School Dress Code Update

The Pope Francis CES School Dress Code Advisory Committee recently held a meeting at which a dress code for the 2018—2019 school year was proposed.  On Thursday, March 1st ,   each family in our school will receive a ballot (one per family) asking whether your family is in favour of a dress code.

Our prospective School Dress Code is:

  • All clothing must be navy blue or white, solid colours only
  • Stripes of any type, whether on pants, shorts, or a dress are not permitted
  • Any logo must be no larger than a loonie
  • T-shirts, collared polo shirts, dress shirts, dresses, and blouses are permitted
  • Skirts, skorts, and dresses, solid colour, are permitted
  • Students up to grade 4 may wear tights; students from grade 5 to grade 8 may not
  • Sweaters, hoodies, vests, navy blue or white (again, no stripes) will be permitted
  • Track pants (navy blue, no stripes, logo no larger than a loonie) will be permitted
  • Denim of any kind will NOT be permitted
  • School Spirit Wear (specific to Pope Francis) will be permitted
  • All clothing must be appropriate for school, reflecting Catholic teachings and beliefs

A public meeting regarding this proposal will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, February 28 at 6:30 pm in our gymnasium.  At this forum, you will have the opportunity to view some sample clothing and to ask whatever questions you may have.

Please note that in order for this Dress Code to be adapted, 50 % plus one of our families must vote in its favour.  Non-votes will count as a vote in favour of the dress code (as per board policy).  All ballots will be due in the office by Friday, March 9th by 4:00 pm.

We would like to extend a note of gratitude to our committee members for their commitment to our school community and students.
